Blue Cross Blue Shield Rate Changes for Medicare Supplements

You have probably received a letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina notifying you of your new Medicare supplement rate beginning June 1.  Here are a few things to look for when you receive this letter.

  • Your rate adjustment is your yearly change due to overall claims activity within your group, or inflation
  • If you are moving to a new age bracket your rate increase may be more than you have experienced in the past few years
  • The Blue-to-Blue process that allows you to move to different Blue Cross Medicare supplements without answering health questions will only be allowed between May 1 and May 31, starting immediately (This rule change may particularly affect those who choose to move from F to HDF or HDF to F)
